Bindows IntelliJ Plugin Update2
support posted in Developing in Bindows on July 27th, 2007
The Bindows Plugin is an indispensable addition to all Bindows developers that use JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA code editor. See my previous blog for more information.
We have just released beta 3 of the plugin and it has many advantages over the first version. So let me tell you about all the nice new features that have been added.
Support for Bindows 3.0
The code completion for Bindows ADFs has been updated to reflect the API changes of Bindows 3.0 and many other improvements have been made to the schema.
Cross platform support
The plugin can now be used in both Mac OS X and Windows environments with Linux support soon to follow. On the Mac I noticed something really cool today that we might put into an upcoming version. If you have Parallels installed with Windows, you will be able to launch your Bindows application in Internet Explorer in Coherence Mode from within IntelliJ IDEA. So you are not just limited to Firefox.
Easier to setup
You no longer have to care about where the plugin jar file is installed as you don’t have to include the logging library manually in your application. This is all done for you behind the scenes when debug mode is active. Just activate debug mode and you will be able to use those BiLog.out statements.
Live templates included
We now have several Live Templates bundled with the plugin. With the help of Live Templates you can create classes, ADFs, event handlers etc. in the blink of an eye. JetBrains added a feature that enables us to access the current class and method from within the Live Template. For example; the template called blog2 prints the following:
BiLog.out("L:15 ClassName:methodName: " + "message");
All you have to type is the message.
And more…There are also many small improvements and bug fixes such as, pause button, server port option with automatic client side matching, support for multiple IntelliJ IDEA instances renamable Bindows distributions, UI rearrangements and more.
